This movie is set in the city of Tokyo and is based on the book by Amelie Northomb

In the movie, a young woman born in Japan returns to the country, already an adult, to rediscover the beautiful memories she built in herself of this country.

   Raised in Belgium and speaking Japanese, she gets a job in a reputable Japanese company as an interpreter.

   However, as everyone speaks French, she has little to do. Her bosses assign her jobs that she seeks to fulfil trying to adapt to the company's hierarchy.

Amelie with good will and creativity executes the work always adding something of her expansive way of being. This goes against the rules of Japanese culture that she doesn't know. And it makes him suffer humiliations and reprimands from his superiors.

   Until a colleague really asks her for a paper on a scientific research that is being developed in Belgium on the removal of fat in butter. The goal of the research is obviously to have a butter that does not make you fat.

 She agrees with her colleague to attribute to him the authorship. But your colleague and boss the complaint and both, Amelie and the friend are reprimanded. Disappointed with the beautiful colleague she considered a friend too, she will question her. Mori is a woman who chose the profession to dedicate herself to and is tough and cold.

It seems that she believes that in this way she can match men and achieve better positions in the company's hierarchy. Mori in the fight for survival became unempathetic. Even with herself. Amelie is discriminated against for being Western. She is forbidden to speak Japanese. They don't allow you to be seen as equal. But prejudice is everywhere, countries. It is typical of the human way of being.

The fear of the unknown is the ground where contempt grows, the rejection of the other, for no reason.

But not everyone is afraid. The director, an intelligent and welcoming man, recognizes her and is willing to receive her if she wants to return someday. And even Mori comes down from her pride and ends up apologizing to Amelie congratulating her for the book, in Japanese.

  No filme uma jovem nascida no Japão retorna ao país , já adulta , para reencontrar as belas lembranças que construiu em si  desse país. 

  Criada na Bélgica e falando japonês consegue um emprego em uma empresa japonesa, conceituada, como intérprete.

   Contudo, como todos falam francês pouca coisa ela tem a fazer. Seus chefes lhe atribuem trabalhos que ela procura cumprir tentando adaptar-se a hierarquia da empresa. 

   Amelie com boa vontade e criatividade executa o trabalho sempre agregando algo do seu modo de ser expansivo. Isso bate de encontro as regras da cultura japonesa  que ela desconhece. E faz com que sofra humilhações e repreensões dos seus superiores. 

   Até que realmente um colega a solicita um trabalho sobre uma pesquisa científica que está sendo desenvolvida na Bélgica sobre a retirada da gordura na manteiga.  O objetivo da pesquisa é obviamente ter uma manteiga que não engorde.

     Se esmera na oportunidade que lhe dão de finalmente fazer um relatório à sua altura. 

    Combina com seu colega para   atribuir  à ele  a autoria. Mas sua colega e  chefe a denúncia e ambos  , Amelie e o amigo são repreendidos.     Decepcionada com a bela colega que considerava amiga também ,  vai questiona-la . Mori é uma mulher que escolheu a profissão para se dedicar e é dura e fria.

  Parece que ela acredita que dessa forma pode se igualar aos homens e alcançar cargos melhores na hierarquia da empresa . Mori na luta pela sobrevivência tornou-se pouco empática. Até consigo mesma.   Ela se ocupa em agradar os chefes ,tornar-se rápida e eficiente. Seu olhar é para os outros , o que fazem e como a vêm. A preocupação em agradar tornou-a disciplinada e impecável.  afastando-se de si mesma. Ela não se conhece e não procura encontrar e desenvolver em si sua capacidade própria, específica e única. Desconhece a própria potencialidade,  talento . Isso equivale a enterra-lo . Pois não 

   o usa .      Por isso fica abalada com os talentos de Amelie e no lugar de investir em seus próprios prefere sabotar os de Amelie. Subestimar Amelie foi a maneira de se defender do sentimento de inferioridade. Como uma vinganca , uma  punição.  Ao invés de investir  em si  prefere tomar conta dos talentos de outros. Faz  o possível para humilhar a colega dando-lhe trabalhos inferiores à sua capacidade,  Mori apesar de ser ambiciosa é muito insegura quanto às suas qualidades profissionais .

    Amelie tanto critica as regras da cultura japonesa nesse filme como também critica a pretensiosa ciência europeia. Na Bélgica está uma das sedes da U.E. 

    Enfim, à parte os aspectos culturais específicos, esse filme nos fala sobre qualidades e competitividade.

   Amelie é objeto de descriminação por ser ocidental. E proibida de falar japonês . Não lhe permitem ser vista como igual. Mas preconceito tem em todos os lugares , países . É próprio do modo humano de ser.

   O medo do desconhecido  é o solo onde  cresce o desprezo, a rejeição ao outro , sem motivo. 

   Mas nem todos têm  medo. O diretor , homem inteligente e acolhedor, a reconhece e se dispõe a recebê-la se quiser retornar algum dia. E até a Mori desce  de sua soberba e acaba por se desculpar com Amelie parabenizando-a pelo livro , em japonês.
