             We, human animals, are born differently from others, incomplete. We need a long time, an entire childhood under care, to complete our maturation. And it is during this time that we develop, in our relationships with those who care for us, a world of subjectivity within us, full of meaning and feelings.

           This film, "Straw," tells us about this. It begins with a messy, uncleaned space, demonstrating all the confusion and disorder in the life of Janiyah, a poor, single, Black woman with a sick daughter who requires expensive medication We, human animals, are born differently from others, incomplete. This film, "Straw," tells us about this. It begins with a messy, uncleaned space, demonstrating all the confusion and disorder in the life of Janiyah, a poor, single, Black woman with a sick daughter who requires expensive medication. Her daughter asks her to pay for her school meals. She doesn't have the money. Aria is charged in front of her classmates by her teacher. It's in this atmosphere of despair over her daughter's humiliation and guilt over knowing that food is important for Aria's health that Janiyah's day begins.

          Her day, after dropping her daughter off at school, is a tumult of difficult circumstances, such as being evicted from her home with her belongings left on the street, and an expired driver's license, which demonstrate the confusion and disorder that have taken hold in her life. Overwhelmed by so many demands and without help, Janiyah lives a day of despair. Pressured by the guilt of not being able to care for her daughter and the afflictions of daily violence, she chooses that day to live her pain at the limit of her own survival. The danger doesn't matter; in fact, living or dying doesn't matter either. She appears concerned about leaving her daughter alone, but in reality, she acts as if she wants to expose not only her pain, but also those who were somehow responsible for the violence and perverse abuse inflicted upon her. She must be denounced. She is a victim of social indifference and an easy target for the arrogance of men in power.  D

          Surviving isn't important. She tells everything, needs to be heard, the last straw spilled over her. Without Aria, nothing matters, nothing is worthwhile. She needs peace for her heart. Because without meaning, she can't keep breathing. Her actions are destructive to herself, which is why they mistake the experiment created by Aria, which was the only thing she cared about carrying with her, for a bomb. But Janiyah was, indeed, the bomb of pain that was exploding.

    Nós , animais humanos, nascemos diferentemente de outros, incompletos. Necessitamos de muito tempo , toda uma infância sob cuidados para terminarmos nossa maturação. E é nesse tempo que desenvolvemos , na relação com quem nos cuida, um mundo de subjetividades dentro de nós cheio de significados e sentimentos. 

     Sobre isso nos fala esse filme.  Straw , inicia com um lugar em desordem, por limpar, demonstrando toda confusão e desordem da vida de   Janiyah, mulher negra, pobre, solteira, com uma filha doente que precisa de medicação cara.  Sua filha lhe pede que ela pague sua alimentação na escola. Ela não tinha o dinheiro. Ária foi cobrada na frente dos colegas pela professora . Nesse clima de desespero pela humilhação sofrida por sua filha e culpa por saber que alimentação é importante para saúde de Ária que inicia o dia de Janiyah.  

        Seu dia, após deixar filha na escola, é um tumulto de circunstâncias difíceis como o despejo de casa com suas coisas colocadas na rua, 

carteira de motorista vencida, que demonstram a confusão e desordem que instarauram-se em sua vida . Oprimida por tantas cobranças e sem ajuda, Janiyah vive um dia de desespero. Pressionada pela culpa de não conseguir cuidar de sua filha e as aflições da violência cotidiana, escolhe nesse dia, viver sua dor no limite da própria sobrevivência. O perigo , não importa, na verdade viver ou morrer também não. Aparentemente está preocupada em deixar sua filha só , mas de fato, age como se quisesse expor não somente a sua dor, mas aqueles que de alguma forma foram responsáveis pela  violência e abusos perversos impostos a ela.  É preciso denunciar. Vítima da indiferença social e alvo fácil da prepotência dos homens de poder.   

         Sobreviver não é importante. Ela conta tudo, precisa ser ouvida  última gota transbordou-a. Sem Ária, mais nada importa, mais nada vale a pena. Ela precisa de paz para seu coração. Pois ,sem sentido, não dá pra continuar respirando. Suas atitudes são destrutivas com ela mesma daí confundirem o experimento criado por Ária que ,  era a única coisa que importava a ela levar consigo, com uma bomba. Mas Janiyah era, sim,  a bomba de dor que estava explodindo.
