    O filme nos conta a história de um grupo de jovens que trabalham com entretenimento em um grande hotel na Grécia. A protagonista é  a mais velha e líder do grupo.  Novas pessoas chegam no verão pra integrar o grupo e entre elas uma jovem polonesa de 17 anos. Kayla a líder, proteje essa moça. Ambas fugiram de casa aos 16 anos. Essa moça tem aparência fechada e triste. Kayla a protege do assédio de outros membros do grupo. É um grupo que cria shows de dança e música. Eles trazem diversão e procuram diversão também, com muita bebida. Tanto Kayla como a nova integrante polonesa parecem que saíram de casa a procura de alegria e de preencherem o vazio que sentem dentro de si.  Kayla está lá há 10 anos e mantém relacionamento sexual  com o chefe do grupo apesar de não ter muita intimidade com ele. É um relacionamento superficial. Kayla divide a casa com a recém chegada polonesa . Ela também é triste como a nova integrante e seu riso é mais como uma defesa quando precisa aparentar alegria ou quando está se defendendo da agressividade dos outros. Um riso que não vem  da alegria  e  Kayla confunde sexo com vínculo.  Ela procura relações mais genuínas e se afasta do grupo.  Fica claro que ela não sabe como fazer isso. Mas certamente sabe que tem de começar de algum outro lugar. A polonesa, Eva , então , ao final, vai ocupar o seu lugar no grupo. 

   Não se pode atribuir à uma profissão  um modo de ser . Apenas se pode pensar que algumas profissões, que não exigem trabalho de reflexão e interioridade, sejam mais propensas às pessoas que sentem um vazio por falta de vínculos e se restringem aos prazeres sensoriais. Daí a associação ao animal, nome do filme. Pois, para esse grupo, o entretenimento se configura com um estado de êxtase sensorial  e superficialidade. Essa é uma fuga do vazio que causa a futura depressão.

     

This Film tells the story of a group of young people who work as entertainers in a large hotel in Greece. The protagonist is the oldest and leader of the group.  New people arrive in the summer to join the group, including a 17-year-old Polish girl. Kayla, the leader, protects her. They both ran away from home when they were 16. This girl has a closed and sad appearance. Kayla protects her from harassment from other members of the group. It's a group that creates dance and music shows. They bring fun and look for fun too, with lots of drinking. Both Kayla and the new Polish member seem to have left home in search of joy and to fill the emptiness they feel inside.  Kayla has been there for 10 years and has a sexual relationship with the head of the group, despite not being very intimate with him. It's a superficial relationship. Kayla shares the house with the Polish newcomer. She's also sad like the new member and her laughter is more like a defense when she needs to appear cheerful or when she's defending herself against the aggression of others. It's a laugh that doesn't seem to come from within, and Kayla confuses sex with bonding.  She looks for more genuine relationships and distances herself from the group.  It's clear that she doesn't know how to do this. But she certainly knows that she has to start somewhere else. The Polish woman, Eva, will take her place in the group in the end. 

   You can't assign a profession a way of being. One can only think that some professions, which don't require reflection and inwardness, are more likely to suit people who feel an inner emptiness due to a lack of bonds and who live for sensory pleasures. Hence the association with the animal, the name of the movie. For this group, entertainment is a state of sensory ecstasy and superficiality. This is an escape from emptiness that can lead to future depression.
