        Filme passado  na Arábia Saudita,  na atualidade. Baseado em fatos reais.   História sobre moças  que estudam em uma escola secundária que é administrada por uma diretora ,uma sub - diretora e uma servente. Além das professoras. O único homem é um porteiro, tipo zelador, que é responsável por trancar o colégio com cadeado e com uma trave de ferro, assim que todas entram . Ele também faz a vistoria da indumentária das moças certificando-se que estão com seus lenços ,luvas , etc enfim, se estão adequadamente vestidas. 

      O filme inicia com Amira indo para o colégio , pelo caminho solta o seu lenço, ouve elogios de rapazes mas não faz caso,  parece distante aproveitando o vento sútil que faz  voar o  véu e bate em seu rosto e seu cabelo como que caminhasse sentindo-se livre e leve. 

       O método de incentivo para o estudo do colégio é baseado em premiações aos alunos que se destacam pelas notas e comportamento. Amira é a aluna exemplar , ganha medalhas,  estudiosa e obediente.  É chamada de filha ideal já que o colégio procura passar a ideia de ser como uma segunda casa para as alunas e onde o matriarcado domina.  Sua melhor amiga , Rana, é a filha da diretora.  Essa abordagem pedagógica obviamente expõe Amira à inveja e despeito das colegas rebeldes que não conseguem se adequar às exigências tão rígidas,  três alunas,  em especial, Heba, A inspeção passa pelo corpo das moças que não podem se utilizar de nenhum recurso para aumento da auto estima como unhas grandes , esmaltes , maquilagem que são consideradas infrações assim como chicletes e cigarros. Ao corpo não pode ser agregado nada que o destaque.

        Heba é inteligente e critica  as tradições culturais religiosas passadas pelas professoras que reforçam a ideia da superioridade masculina e de um essencialismo de gênero onde as mulheres são sempre as manipuladoras e sedutoras.  Tem aulas de”virtude de lavar os mortos”  lavar e cobrir os mortos com sudários.  Os homens vestem-se com seda enquanto as mulheres precisam ser tapadas , cobertas com o hijabe, é a vontade de Alá.

        Em um clima de incentivo à competição , o  Bullying é corriqueiro e o ataque é as melhores alunas. Ao mesmo tempo as meninas são obrigadas a arrumar o estoque de livros e quando se interessam por eles  são obrigadas a sair do local. O objetivo da escola não é de fato, despertar o interesse pelo conhecimento.  A própria diretora que está em litígio judicial com o pai da Rana quer que ela seja a aluna premiada a fim de impedir o pedido de guarda deste e pra mostrar como ela é boa mãe e não pensando no futuro de sua filha. 

        Amira é presa no estoque e coincidentemente começa  um incêndio. O porteiro não quer abrir as portas da escola. O fogo se expande , o extintor não funciona e só pra fazer de conta.

       Amira sabe que a luta para ser reconhecida no mundo masculino como uma pessoa humana de igual valor , requer esforço.   A escola desloca a verdadeira opressão para uma disputa de vaidades entre as mulheres de forma  distraí-las do real inimigo que é  o entendimento de que são essencialmente inferiores e condenáveis . Rana se entrega, como um fim pra situação de  mentira e injustiça.  Não há luta sem esforço e não se faz justiça sem coragem. E não há liberdade sem justiça.

    Film set in Saudi Arabia today. Based on real events.   Story about girls who study at a secondary school that is run by a headmistress, a deputy headmistress and a servant. In addition to the teachers. The only man is a caretaker, who is responsible for locking the school with a padlock and an iron bolt as soon as the girls enter. He also checks the girls' clothes, making sure they have their scarves, gloves, etc., in short, that they are properly dressed. 

      The film opens with Amira going to school, on the way she loosens her scarf, hears compliments from boys but doesn't pay any attention, she seems distant, taking advantage of the subtle wind that makes her veil fly and hits her face and hair as if she were walking feeling free and light. 

       The school's method of encouraging students to study is based on awards for outstanding grades and behaviour. Amira is an exemplary student, she wins medals, is studious and obedient.  She is called the ideal daughter, as the school tries to convey the idea that it is like a second home for the students and that matriarchy dominates.  Her best friend, Rana, is the headmistress' daughter.  This pedagogical approach obviously exposes Amira to the envy and spite of her rebellious classmates who are unable to conform to the strict requirements, three students in particular, Heba, The inspection goes through the girls' bodies, which are not allowed to use any resources to increase their self-esteem, such as big nails, nail polish, make-up, which are considered offences, as well as chewing gum and cigarettes. Nothing can be added to the body to emphasise it.

        Heba is intelligent and criticises the religious cultural traditions passed down by her teachers, which reinforce the idea of male superiority and a gender essentialism in which women are always the manipulators and seductresses.  There are lessons on the "virtue of washing the dead", washing and covering the dead with shrouds.  The men dress in silk while the women need to be covered with the hijab, it's Allah's will.

        In a climate that encourages competition, bullying is commonplace and the attack is on the best students. At the same time, the girls are forced to stock up on books and when they take an interest in them, they are forced to leave. The aim of the school is not really to arouse interest in knowledge.  The headmistress herself, who is in legal dispute with Rana's father, wants her to be the prize-winner in order to prevent Rana from applying for custody and to show what a good mum she is, not thinking about her daughter's future. 

        Amira is trapped in the storeroom and coincidentally a fire breaks out. The caretaker doesn't want to open the school doors. The fire spreads, the extinguisher doesn't work and it's just make-believe.

       Amira knows that the struggle to be recognised in the male world as a human being of equal value requires effort.   The school shifts the real oppression to a vanity dispute between the women in order to distract them from the real enemy, which is the realisation that they are essentially inferior and reprehensible. Rana gives herself up as an end to the situation of lies and injustice.  There is no struggle without effort and there is no justice without courage. And there is no freedom without justice.
