Esse filme nos retrata os anos 60, 70 nos EUA. Expõe governos imperialistas que a fim de ocultar seus verdadeiros propósitos censuram ,por meio de leis, as informações que não querem que sejam divulgadas. Os E.U.A. Por muitos anos, com objetivo de não permitir que países se manifestassem em direção a um governo socialista, interferiram ou com guerras ou com golpes na vontade de outros povos. O diferencial desse filme é mostrar como além de matar quem estava com ideais diferentes do Império Americano também enganaram e mataram milhares de jovens norte americanos que deram suas vidas apenas porque seu governo não podia suportar o fato de perder seu poderio econômico apoiado na hegemonia política. Essa guerra durou mais de vinte anos.
O que também nos traz de novo o diretor é que quem vai enfrentar o Tio Sam é uma mulher. Essa mulher apesar de estar no comando do jornal, não é vista por seus funcionários ,a maior parte composta por homens, como capaz de gerenciar a empresa. Ela mesma não se vê como líder e sua participação é muito mais como uma espécie de relações públicas . Ela herda o jornal do pai e é muito bem relacionada com as pessoas que exercem o poder político no país, desenvolvendo muito bem o aspecto social. Até que seu jornal começa por ser impedido de fazer a cobertura do casamento da filha do presidente Nixon. Fato que a abala pois entende como um desprestígio. Além do que está precisando abrir a empresa a acionistas na bolsa e depende mais do que nunca da opinião pública. Sra. Grahan é uma mãe que passou a maior parte da vida cuidando de seus filhos. Apenas com a morte do marido teve de assumir a gerência do jornal. E é como mãe que decide pela divulgação da verdade sobre essa guerra que está há anos num impasse causando a morte e sacrifício das famílias norte- americanas. Recuperando a imagem da mulher como líder, a mãe coragem! Papel que combina muito bem com a atriz carismática e inteligente escolhida para o personagem. E a verdade libertará.

This movie portrays the 60s and 70s in the USA. It exposes imperialist governments who, in order to hide their true intentions, censor information that they don't want to be made public. For many years, in order not to allow countries to move towards a socialist government, the U.S. interfered either with wars or with coups against the will of other peoples. The difference this movie makes is that it shows how, as well as killing those with different ideals from the American Empire, they also deceived and killed thousands of young North Americans who gave their lives simply because their government couldn't bear to lose its economic power supported by political hegemony. This war lasted more than twenty years.
What the director also brings us again is that the one who is going to confront Uncle Sam is a woman. This woman, despite being in charge of the newspaper, is not seen by her employees, most of whom are men, as capable of managing the company. She doesn't see herself as a leader and her role is much more like a kind of public relations officer. She inherits the newspaper from her father and is very well connected with the people who exercise political power in the country, developing the social aspect very well. Until her newspaper is prevented from covering the wedding of President Nixon's daughter. A fact that shakes her because she sees it as a discredit. What's more, she needs to float her company on the stock exchange and depends more than ever on public opinion. Mrs. Grahan is a mother who has spent most of her life looking after her children. It was only when her husband died that she had to take over the management of the newspaper. And it is as a mother that she decides to divulge the truth about this war that has been deadlocked for years, causing death and sacrifice for American families.
